DESCRIPTION:One of the great sages of the Platonic tradition\, Plotinus\, w
 rote two treatises on Beauty: we will read extracts from them and explore 
 some of his insights concerning it. What is its source? How is it percepti
 ble to our highest faculties as they ascend to the immaterial world? How d
 oes it appear in the sensible world? What effect does it have on our souls
 ?\n\nThis event is free but donations are encouraged\, circumstances allow
 ing. We’ll start the session at 6.30pm: tea/coffee and cake will be avai
 lable just beforehand. No need to book. Please come back at the beginning 
 of December to download a PDF of the paper we’ll be using.\n\nThese even
 ings include short talks and/or readings from Platonic writings – but we
  hope they will be genuinely interactive\, with all participants invited t
 o contribute to our collaborative search for truth. No previous experienc
 e of formal philosophy is required. Every effort is made to make these typ
 e of evenings accessible to the newcomer\, while allowing the great profun
 dity of the Platonic tradition to step forward and speak to us at whatever
  level our present understanding sits.\n\nHere is the study paper we will
