DESCRIPTION:In several dialogues Socrates speaks of his daemon – a voice 
 he hears which guides his life. In this session we look at the nature of d
 aemons in general\; Socrates’ description of his interactions with his d
 aemon\; and the comments around this subject from several Platonic comment
 ators from antiquity.\n\nThis event is free but if you can please donate 
 £5 or more in order to cover our costs\, either as cash on the day or don
 ating through this website\n\nMost of these evenings are self-contained an
 d every effort is made to make them accessible to the newcomer\, while all
 owing the great profundity of the Platonic tradition to step forward and s
 peak to us at whatever level our present understanding sits. Some of thes
 e sessions are coupled together\, in order to give us the space to examine
  more fully particular texts and themes\, but even here we will ensure tha
 t if those attending have missed the first of the two sessions a recap of
  what has gone before will help all participants to pick up the main threa
 ds of the theme.\n\nThe Trust has run similar activities for some 18 years
 \, and in our experience they allow the most profound questions concerning
  human life\, the nature of reality\, and our interactions\, to be explore
 d at once both seriously and with good cheer. Our aim is to provide a for
 um for honest and straight-forward enquiry\, but which is unafraid to expl
 ore inward-moving paths too often neglected by modern schools of thought.\
