SUMMARY:Plato: what's the idea? - open session in London
DESCRIPTION:Plato is famous for his "theory of forms" - but what are forms 
 (or ideas)? Throughout the ancient tradition of Platonism wise men and wom
 en pondered this. But modern interpretations have narrowed this\, so we wi
 ll aim to explore what is included in the theory.\n\nThis event is free bu
 t if you can please donate £5 or more in order to cover our costs\, eithe
 r as cash on the day or donating through this website\n\nMost of these eve
 nings are self-contained and every effort is made to make them accessible 
 to the newcomer\, while allowing the great profundity of the Platonic trad
 ition to step forward and speak to us at whatever level our present unders
 tanding sits. Some of these sessions are coupled together\, in order to g
 ive us the space to examine more fully particular texts and themes\, but e
 ven here we will ensure that if those attending have missed the first of 
 the two sessions a recap of what has gone before will help all participant
 s to pick up the main threads of the theme.\n\nThe Trust has run similar a
 ctivities for some 18 years\, and in our experience they allow the most pr
 ofound questions concerning human life\, the nature of reality\, and our i
 nteractions\, to be explored at once both seriously and with good cheer. 
 Our aim is to provide a forum for honest and straight-forward enquiry\, bu
 t which is unafraid to explore inward-moving paths too often neglected by
