Description

In Be Human – Then Divine, the teachings from the Pythagorean Golden Verses – an ancient sacred text – are brought out in an engaging and accessible way. The first half of the verses give practical guidance on facing life’s challenges and cultivating the qualities of a good human being. The second half focus on a path of contemplative practice, with inspiring insights on the attitude and approach to bring to daily practice. Hierocles was an ancient Greek philosopher who used the Golden Verses in guiding his students on what he called ‘the divine path.’  His commentary, based on discussions with students, seems to reflect the questions they raised and the issues they faced. Today’s readers will find that on the path of becoming truly human, then divine, they are not so different from Hierocles’ students. Outward forms change; but the inner struggle remains the same.
