Olympiodorus’ Commentary on the Phaedo is actually a set of lecture notes taken, it is assumed, from Olympiodorus’ work in the Alexandrian Academy in the last years of that institution. It covers the relation of the soul – especially that of the philosopher – to life and death, as well as dealing with the first three of the five arguments for immortality outlined in the dialogue.
